Basic Characteristics of Lithium iron Phosphate Batteries
1. Rate characteristics of battery capacity
As the discharge current increases, the discharge capacity of the battery will decrease. When the discharge rate is less than 0.33C, the discharge capacity of lithium-ion batteries is minimally affected by the discharge rate, and the difference in discharge capacity is not significant. It can be basically assumed that the capacity of the battery can be discharged 100%.
2. Temperature characteristics of battery capacity
When the ambient temperature is above 0 ℃, the decay rate of battery capacity is slower, while when the ambient temperature is below 0 ℃, the decay rate of battery capacity is faster, and the internal resistance of the battery increases sharply with the decrease of temperature.
3. The advantages of lithium iron phosphate batteries compared to traditional lead-acid batteries
1. High temperature resistance: Lead acid batteries can operate stably within a temperature range of 25-28 ℃. An increase in temperature can damage the battery and reduce its lifespan;
2. High energy density: The weight specific energy of lithium iron phosphate battery products can exceed 130Wh/kg (0.2C, 25 ℃), and the volume specific energy is 210Wh/L; The weight specific energy of lead-acid battery products is 32-37Wh/kg (0.2C, 25 ℃), and the volume specific energy is 70Wh/L;
3. High current charging and discharging performance: Lithium iron phosphate batteries can quickly charge and discharge at high currents of 2C, with a starting current of over 5C. Lead acid batteries currently do not have this performance. So the charging time of lithium iron phosphate batteries is short;
4. Green and environmentally friendly: Lithium iron phosphate batteries do not contain any heavy metals or rare metals (nickel hydrogen batteries require rare metals), and are non-toxic (certified by SGS); Lead acid batteries contain a large amount of lead, and if not handled properly after disposal, they can still cause secondary pollution to the environment.
5. Cascade utilization of power lithium batteries has a long service life and a high number of cycles. Theoretically, after cascade utilization, there are still 6 years of actual service life and 400-2000 actual cycles left, which is significantly higher than the 3-6 year service life and 200 actual cycles of traditional lead-acid batteries;
6. Strong high-temperature resistance, lithium batteries can meet the extreme working conditions below 45 ℃. Currently, the temperature upper limit of lead-acid batteries commonly used in communication base stations is only 35 ℃;
7. Good discharge characteristics, high capacity utilization during high current discharge;
8. The charging and discharging conversion efficiency is high, and the energy conversion efficiency of cascade batteries is 10% to 15% higher than that of lead-acid batteries;
9. Small footprint, light weight, and low transportation cost, the weight and volume of cascade batteries are 1/2 or 2/3 of lead-acid batteries of the same capacity.
